LOS ANGELES – SlingShot Entertainment announced today they have
acquired the home entertainment rights to the large-format film, Jane
Goodall’s Wild Chimpanzees. The film opened last month nationwide
and is based on Dr. Goodall’s decades of well-known research on
chimpanzees. In only 43 minutes, the film spans more than 40 years of
her incredible and selfless work among the chimps at Gombe National Park
on Lake Tanganyka in Africa. Without her continued efforts, the chimp
population may become extinct due to poaching and loss of their natural
habitat.
The DVD will be available mid-January 2003 and will include, among others,
a director’s commentary, a Behind-the-Scenes Featurette and a Making
of the Music segment featuring Johnny Clegg. A VHS version of the film
will also be offered at that time.

The film project began nearly five years ago and was partially funded
by the National Science Foundation. The Science Museum of Minnesota served
as one of the executive producers.
